The event will feature the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention and other leaders in the global fight for vaccines for all. They will share first-hand experiences about innovative ways to address current gaps in vaccine uptake.COVID Vaccines in AfricaDespite the availability of COVID vaccines, Africa faces rampant vaccine-hesitancy, potentially paving the way for new COVID-19 waves across the world. Vaccination rates across Africa are dangerously low, with only 25% of the population fully vaccinated (vs 65% globally). Countries such as Malawi (25%), Cameroon (14%), Senegal (12%), and Kenya (27%) need urgent assistance.

The Africa CDC and The Access Challenge Drive Vaccination Messages Home

The Africa CDC and The Access Challenge are running multi-platform, innovative communications campaigns across many countries in Africa. In Tanzania, our campaign reached over 36 million people, and played an active role in driving vaccination rates from 25% to 50% of the population.

This event will raise awareness of the need for resources for COVID communications campaigns. This vital communications work supports Africa CDC’s goal to achieve 70% vaccination rates across Africa by the end of 2023.
